We are assisting our client, Merit Tool and Manufacturing in their search for a Machinist Assistant.  Established in 1987, Merit Tool and Manufacturing is a provider of custom machined tooling, gauging, detail parts, and assemblies. 

Merit Tool supplies a wide range of “niche” manufacturers who require precision machining services, whether it’s tooling or limited production parts.  

Qualified candidates will have previous successful work experience with business references.  Manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred.

Qualified candidates will meet the following criteria:
 
  • High School graduate with good basic math skills.
  • Has a valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Receives instruction well and follows work related rules and policies.
  • Can demonstrate an excellent attendance record at previous employment.
  • Has good communication skills and works well with others.
  • Can use basic mechanical tools well.  Candidates with experience using measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) will be given preference.
  • Is certified to drive a lift truck or is willing to learn.
  • Desires to learn new skills and increase their abilities.
 
Duties for this position include but not limited to:
 
  • Maintaining shop cleanliness
  • Pickup/delivery tasks in company vehicle
  • Shipping/receiving activities including loading/unloading trucks
  • Packaging parts, preparing shipments
  • Organizing parts into an organized storage department.  


Also includes machining activities where the qualified candidate will learn how to operate saws, lathes, mills, sandblaster, and other shop equipment. 

Benefits:  $11-13/hr wage depending on experience, Medical, Dental, Vision, paid vacation and holidays.  4-1/2 day work schedule (45 hrs/week). Opportunity for advancement.

$250.00 sign on bonus paid after 90 days of continuous employment.
