Area Sales Manager - Manufacturing

Grotnes is an innovative manufacturer of customized and integrated metal forming equipment.  We are seeking an Area Sales Manager to join our Niles, Michigan team. This role provides technical sales support to new and potential customers and contributes to the survival, growth, and profitability of Grotnes through sales and marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow the current customer base by visiting and interviewing relevant personnel to determine their requirements.
  • Assist application personnel to prepare cost estimates and sales proposals.
  • Develop project closing strategies to meet sales goals.
  • Make formal sales presentations.
  • Assist application personnel to prepare and issue job entry packages.
  • Help prepare and participate in job introduction meetings.
  • Perform periodic job follow-ups.
  • Participate in market research and forecasting activities as necessary to achieve overall company objectives.
  • Develop product and market knowledge to the extent of being a consultant to the existing and new customer base.
  • Develop new accounts to provide the basis for business growth for the assigned territory. 
  • Manage the CRM database by adding leads, opportunities, correspondence, status, etc.
  • Conduct surveys of customers to identify long-term requirements.
  • Engage in customer interactions as necessary.
  • Plan, organize, and participate in trade shows within the territory, as well as assist in corporate trade shows outside the territory.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Background/Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related technical or business degree is desired.
  • Five years of experience successfully selling mechanical, electro-mechanical, or machine controls and automation products to manufacturers.
  • Fluent in both foreign and English languages, able to converse concisely and fluently.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and decipher engineering specifications.
  • Ability to utilize technology products such as spreadsheets, word processing, machine tool technology, tool and/or machine design, customer sales and service techniques, project management techniques, machine tool circuitry, PLC automation, SPC, and industry standards.
  • Professional demeanor, ability to demonstrate good time management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and able to work accurately under pressure.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically on a regular basis. ith little supervision, and can work accurately under pressure.
