Senior Applications Engineer

Grotnes is an innovative manufacturer of customized and integrated metal forming equipment and cells for diverse industries, including automotive, aerospace, agriculture, petroleum, power distribution, rigid packaging, appliance/tank, and forging.

We are seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join our team. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and sales acumen to generate comprehensive quotations in response to customer requests. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Sales Team to present our products to customers at a profound technical level, setting us apart from our competitors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and interpret customer requirements.
  • Develop technical solutions that solve client problems.
  • Prepare cost estimates and written customer quotations.
  • Prepare representative equipment layouts for quotations.
  • Make technical presentations and demonstrate how a product will meet customer needs.
  • Review purchase orders and contracts for agreement with Grotnes quotations.
  • Set up new projects in ERP system.
  • Prepare As Sold internal job kick-off packages.
  • Prepare As Sold external customer job kickoff packages.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Help meet regular sales goals.
  • Provide sales technical assistance and product education.
  • Work with other members of the sales team and other technical experts.
  • Help with concept and design of custom-made projects.
  • Provide training and produce support material for the sales team.
  • Maintain confidential information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Background/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Marketing field.
  • 8-10 years working knowledge of large equipment/machine products and/or customer application.
  • Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment. 
  • Travel (some international) may be required.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Inventor CAD experience.
  • Ability to communicate on a technical level with other team members.
  • Familiarity with modern machine control systems and connectivity.
  • Familiarity with machine safety and regulatory compliance.
  • High integrity, solid work ethic, energetic team player, willing to help and take the initiative to get things done.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project and Outlook).
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
